Trump Appoints Bill Bazzi as U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia

U.S. President Donald Trump has appointed Bill Bazzi, the mayor of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, as the new U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia, replacing Joey Hood.

Bazzi, of Lebanese descent, served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 21 years before transitioning to civilian roles. He worked as a quality manager at Boeing and later as a product development engineer at Ford Motor Company.

Following his retirement, Bazzi entered politics and was elected mayor of Dearborn Heights.

During the 2024 presidential elections, he played a key role in securing Trump’s victory in Dearborn and the crucial swing state of Michigan.

Bazzi is the first Arab-American to serve as mayor of Dearborn Heights, a city where nearly one-third of the population is of Arab descent.
