First U.S. Military Flight Deports Migrants to Guantánamo

A U.S. military flight deporting migrant to the Guantánamo naval base in Cuba landed Tuesday night, marking an escalation in the Trump administration’s immigration measures. The base is being considered as a detention center for up to 30,000 people.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the move, calling Guantánamo a suitable location.

The decision has sparked outrage from human rights organizations. Amnesty International condemned it as cruel and costly, warning that detained migrants would be cut off from legal support and family. Critics argue the base lacks legal protections and has a controversial history of detaining terror suspects.
