Tunisia and African Development Bank Sign Road Infrastructure Development Agreement

On January 24, 2025, Tunisia and the African Development Bank (AfDB) signed a financing agreement for the third phase of the Road Infrastructure Development Project. The ceremony, held at the Government Palace in Kasbah, was attended by key officials, including Head of Tunisian Government, Kamel Maddouri and AfDB Deputy Director, Malinne Blomberg.

The project involves upgrading 188.9 kilometers of roads across eight governorates, aiming to improve road quality, enhance transportation, boost safety, and adapt infrastructure to climate change.

Minister of Economy Samir Abdelhafidh and Minister of Equipment Sarah Zaafrani Zenzeri highlighted the project’s role in improving living conditions, fostering economic growth, and advancing regional development.

AfDB’s Malinne Blomberg reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting Tunisia’s infrastructure goals, noting successful past collaborations that modernized over 4,000 kilometers of roads. This agreement reflects Tunisia’s dedication to sustainable development and improved connectivity.
