Flooding in Saudi Arabia: Heavy Rains Paralyze Major Cities

On Tuesday, January 7, heavy rains caused severe flooding in Saudi Arabia, with Mecca, Madinah, and Jeddah among the worst-hit cities. Streets turned into rivers, sweeping cars away and submerging vehicles.

Photos and videos shared online show residents evacuating or seeking shelter as Saudi Arabia’s Meteorological Department issued a red alert for the affected regions. Forecasters warn that the heavy rainfall may persist until January 10.

The flooding has also disrupted travel, with delays reported at Jeddah airport. Passengers are advised to check flight updates before traveling.
