Technical Issues Disrupt Border Control at German Airports

Germany’s Federal Police reported technical problems in airport computer systems nationwide on Friday, affecting border checks for arriving passengers. Officers are conducting most checks manually, leading to delays of up to two hours at Düsseldorf Airport, where entry from non-Schengen countries is currently impossible.

Frankfurt Airport remains operational without significant disruptions, while Berlin Brandenburg Airport is experiencing delays but continues to allow entry. Officials ruled out a cyberattack, though reports highlight outdated systems and ignored warnings for upgrades.

The disruptions underscore the need for modernizing critical infrastructure to avoid future incidents.
