Invited by Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, Tunisia’s Interior Minister Kamel Feki attended , on Friday, April 11, the second meeting of the Steering Committee on Voluntary Return of Irregular Migrants in Naples, alongside the Algerian and Libyan Interior Ministers.
Discussions focused on improving voluntary return processes for irregular migrants. Minister Feki addressed geopolitical challenges in the Sahel-Saharan region and migration drivers to Europe, emphasizing Tunisia’s role as a key transit country. He reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to border security, fighting human trafficking, and providing humanitarian aid.
Minister Feki also called for a long-term, collaborative migration approach, along with stronger diplomatic cooperation with international migration organizations.
On the meeting’s sidelines, Minister Feki held bilateral talks with his Algerian and Libyan counterparts and co-chaired a session with Italy’s Interior Minister to enhance cooperation on migration issues.
