A recent study has revealed that cutting down on smartphone usage may be more effective in improving mental health than pharmaceutical antidepressants.
According to the research, reducing screen time by half can enhance attention, alleviate symptoms of depression, and significantly improve sleep quality.
The study was conducted on over 400 volunteers in the U.S. and Canada, where participants were restricted from using the internet on their phones for two weeks, allowing only calls and text messages.
As a result, the average screen time dropped sharply from 5 hours and 14 minutes to just 2 hours and 41 minutes per day, according to a report published by Digital Trends and reviewed by Al Arabiya Business.
Researchers highlight the importance of mindful smartphone use for a healthier, more balanced life.
