Libya Reimposes Border Levy on Tunisian Vehicles

Mustapha Abdelkabir, head of the Tunisian Observatory for Human Rights, expressed his surprise at Libya’s decision to reintroduce a levy of 15 Tunisian dinars on Tunisian vehicles crossing the Ras Jedir border. The fee is collected on behalf of the Libyan Automobile Club.

He also voiced his rejection of this unilateral measure. He called on Tunisian authorities and the joint committees of both countries to work towards canceling the levy, which had previously been abolished through mutual agreement. Alternatively, he suggested that Tunisia should respond with a reciprocal measure.
