International Shock Over Mass Graves of Migrants Discovered in Libya

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) expressed shock and concern today following the discovery of mass graves containing the bodies of dozens of migrants in southeastern Libya.

The Libyan Red Crescent in Tobruk found the remains of undocumented Egyptian migrants, while authorities recently uncovered multiple graves with victims showing signs of gunshot wounds.

According to the IOM, a mass grave near Kufra contained around 30 bodies, with estimates suggesting up to 70 victims. The Libyan Public Prosecutor confirmed on Sunday that 28 bodies were discovered in an unregulated detention center in Kufra, where 76 other migrants were found in dire conditions and subsequently freed.
