Tunisian Foreign Minister Discusses Migration with IOM Chief at Davos

On January 22, 2025, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, met with Amy Pope, Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The meeting highlighted Tunisia’s commitment to safe and regular migration based on mutual benefits and respect for human dignity. Minister Nafti emphasized Tunisia’s efforts in managing migration through international cooperation, bilateral agreements, and development programs, while reiterating Tunisia’s refusal to serve as a transit or settlement hub for irregular migrants.

Amy Pope praised Tunisia’s initiatives to address irregular migration and strengthen legal migration channels, affirming IOM’s continued support for voluntary return programs and local development projects.
