Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Thursday that Russia aims to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, expressing openness to peace talks hosted by Slovakia.
Putin mentioned that Russia could deploy its hypersonic missile, “Oreshnik,” or stronger medium-range weapons if needed. He also noted uncertainty about U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s stance on the conflict.
Since February 2022, Russia has demanded Ukraine abandon plans to join Western military alliances, a condition Kyiv rejects as interference in its sovereignty. Concerns grow in Europe over potential shifts in U.S. support under Trump’s administration.
