The Kazakh Ministry of Transport announced on Wednesday that a passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines, en route from Baku to Grozny in Russia, crashed near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan. The plane was carrying 67 people, including five crew members, with 25 surviving the crash., and the deathe of 42 passengers.
The Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that firefighters extinguished the fire, and the survivors are receiving care at a nearby hospital.
Azerbaijan Airlines stated that the aircraft, flight J2-8243, an Embraer 190 model, was flying from Baku to Grozny, the capital of Russia’s Chechen Republic. However, it was forced to make an emergency landing approximately 3 kilometers from the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan.
