The US military announced Friday that American forces conducted a strike in Syria, killing an ISIS leader and another member of the group.
Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government earlier this month, Washington has intensified its military operations against the extremist group. The offensive has targeted areas previously shielded by Syrian and Russian air defenses, now under the control of opposition forces.
The strike occurred Thursday in Syria’s eastern Deir Ezzor province, eliminating ISIS leader “Abu Yousuf” and another operative, according to a statement from US Central Command (CENTCOM) on social media. No additional details about the two individuals were disclosed.
